Powered HEPA Recirculation Filter

Actively Remove Dust and Reduce Decay Time

Ideal for high-dust environments or customised filtration systems, it actively pulls and filters recirculated air to remove fine dust and airborne contaminants. Equipped with a HEPA H14 filter and a variable speed fan, it rapidly reduces particle concentration after door openings or operator entry, improving dust decay time and ensuring the cleanest air in the operator’s breathing zone.

Available in 12 V and 24 V configurations

Frequently Asked Questions

Why do I need a powered recirculation filter and what is the difference from a panel recirculation filter?

A common recirculation filter usually refers to a panel recirculation filter installed in the return air path of the HVAC system. This style of filter relies on the evaporator fan or existing cabin blower behind the filter to pull cabin air through the filter media.

Because it depends on the machine’s existing HVAC airflow, filtration performance is limited to how much air the evaporator fan can naturally draw through the panel.

A powered HEPA recirculation filter works differently. It is an active filtration unit with its own brushless motor and fan assembly that continuously pulls internal cabin or room air through a HEPA H14 conical filter and actively supplies clean filtered air back into the enclosure.

This means the unit is constantly scrubbing airborne contaminants from the internal environment regardless of the machine’s standard HVAC airflow, resulting in much higher internal air cleaning performance.

How do I know if I need a powered recirculation filter?

You may need a powered HEPA recirculation filter if your operator cabin has a high dust load and requires more aggressive internal air cleaning than a standard passive recirculation filter can provide.

In operator cabins, a powered recirculation unit actively scrubs the cabin air by pulling contaminated internal air through a HEPA filter and supplying clean air back into the cabin. This helps reduce airborne dust that enters during door openings or is carried in by the operator.

For room applications, a powered recirculation filter is usually required because rooms typically do not have the same HVAC return-air filter arrangement as operator cabins. The unit actively circulates air inside the room, captures suspended dust, and helps reduce particles that may otherwise remain airborne or settle onto surfaces and floors.

This makes it especially useful for control rooms, crib rooms, break rooms, TBM offices, and other pressurised rooms exposed to dusty site environments.

Can I use the same HEPA filter as my TL series pressuriser?

Yes. BreatheSafe’s powered HEPA recirculation filter is designed to use the same HEPA conical filter element as the TL series pressuriser range.

This gives customers several practical advantages on-site.

  1. Reduces the number of different spare parts that need to be stocked for machine servicing.
  2. Simplified filter maintenance allows technicians to follow the same familiar HEPA filter replacement procedure used across the TL series pressuriser range.
  3. Consistent HEPA H14 filtration performance ensures both the fresh air pressuriser and the powered recirculation unit operate with the same high efficiency air cleaning standard across the full cabin or room system.

Using the same proven filter platform helps make servicing easier while maintaining consistent filtration quality throughout the enclosure.

Where can a powered HEPA recirculation filter be used?

A powered HEPA recirculation filter can be used in both operator cabins and enclosed rooms where internal air needs to be continuously cleaned.

Common applications include:

  • Mining machine operator cabins
  • Drill cabins
  • Loader cabins
  • Excavator cabins
  • Control rooms
  • Crib rooms
  • Tunnel boring machine rooms
  • Modular room pressurisation systems

In cabin applications, the unit actively recirculates and cleans the operator’s breathing air.

In clean room applications, the unit continuously draws in internal room air, filters it, and returns clean air to the room to help maintain a lower airborne particle concentration.
